Privacy Policy
Effective date: 7 August 2026
In short: WiFi Time Tracker stores all of your data locally on your phone. There is no account, no sign-up, and no cloud service. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. Your data only leaves your phone when you yourself export or back it up.
This policy applies to the WiFi Time Tracker Android app (package name com.wifitimetracker.app) and the website wifitimetracker.com. "We" refers to the developer of WiFi Time Tracker, reachable at support@wifitimetracker.com.
Data the app stores — locally on your device
To do its job, the app stores the following in a local database on your phone:
- The trackers you create (names, settings such as tracker type, absence threshold, and daily deduction).
- The names (SSIDs) of WiFi networks you choose to associate with a tracker.
- The location areas (map circles: coordinates and radius) you choose to associate with a tracker.
- Tracked time, absences, and related history.
- App settings and, if you upgrade, your purchase status.
None of this is transmitted to us or to any third party by the app. We have no servers and no access to your data.
Location and WiFi information
The app uses your device's location and WiFi scanning on the device only to determine whether you are at one of your chosen workplaces:
- WiFi scanning checks whether one of your associated networks is in range. Android requires location permission for any app that scans WiFi networks — this is an operating-system requirement.
- Background location ("Allow all the time") is needed so tracking can continue while the app is closed or the screen is off.
- Geofencing (location areas) uses Google Play services on your device to detect when you enter or leave a chosen area.
Your location and scan results are used solely for this in-the-moment decision. The app does not build a location history, and no location data is sent to us.
Data that leaves your device — only when you choose
- CSV export: if you export tracked time, the file is handed to the app you pick in the Android share dialog (for example email, Google Drive, or OneDrive). From that point it is handled by the service you chose, under that service's own privacy policy.
- Backups: backups are saved on your device by default. If you save a backup to a cloud storage provider, that transfer is performed by the provider you selected.
Third-party services inside the app
- Google Play Billing handles the optional one-time Premium purchase. Payment is processed entirely by Google Play; we never see your payment details. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google Maps displays the map when you draw or edit a location area. Loading map imagery involves communication between your device and Google, governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Google Play services provides the on-device geofencing capability described above.
The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
Data retention and deletion
Because everything is stored locally, you are in full control. You can delete individual trackers, days, or entries inside the app, and uninstalling the app removes all app data from your device. Backup files you created remain wherever you saved them and can be deleted there.
This website
wifitimetracker.com is a static informational site. It does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking of any kind, and it has no forms that collect personal data. If you email us, we use your email address only to reply to you.
Children
The app is a work-time tracking tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — or from anyone else, as described above.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date. Since the app collects no data, changes are expected to be rare and minor.
